This is likely the rarest and most sought after of all Maxon pedals, only a few of these were produced. After all the hype of the EHX big muff, in the 1970's, Maxon set out to replicate this tone by producing the D&S (distortion and Sustain). The MD-9 is essentially the same circuitry as the D&S with some added improvements: JFet switching technolopgy and an changes to the op amp that result in much better bass response.
